Sughd Governor Abdurahmon Qodiri has supported Dushanbe Mayor Rustam Emomali’s initiative regarding repairing schools at the expense of local budget.

Qodiri told reporters in Khujand yesterday that beginning from the next academic year schools and preschool institutions in eight cities and districts of the province will be repaired at the expense of local budgets.

“These cities and districts are Khujand, Buston, Guliston, Konibodom, Asht, Istaravshan and Bobojonghafourov.  Later on other cities and districts will follow their example,” the governor said.

924 high schools to accommodate 499,694 students now function in Sughd province.

Recall, the Dushanbe mayor’s office last month banned schools and kindergartens from collecting money from parents for building repairs.

Dushanbe Mayor Rustam Emomali ordered administrations of Dushanbe’s districts to provide funds for repairing schools and preschool institutions from district budgets.

Heads of Dushanbe’s four districts have already received appropriate written instruction on this subject.

This measure is aimed at preventing corruption and illegal collection of funds for repairing schools and preschool institutions, according to the press service of the Dushanbe mayor’s office.
