Six people were killed and at least five others were injured on September 20 as Opel went into oncoming traffic in high gear in Sughd province.
According to the Interior Ministry’s websites, the accident involving three cars and a bullock-cart took place on the Dushanbe-Khujand highway in the Zarhalol jamoat, which is subordinate to the city of Istaravshan.
Opel driven by Dushanbe resident Naimjon Yusufov, 27, collided with Mitsubishi Libero driven by Khujand resident Rustam Ulmasov, 29. Then Chagan driven by Farkhor resident Saidhamad Nematov, 50, collided with Mitsubishi Libero. Nematov reportedly lost control of his car and it hit a bullock-cart.
As a result of the collision the drivers of Opel and Mitsubishi Libero as well as their three passengers and the bullock-cart driver Fakhriddin Usmonov, 28, died on the spot, while five other persons sustained various injuries and were hospitalized.
