KHOROG, November 19, Asia-Plus  — The National Association of Independent Media of Tajikistan (Nansmit) has conducted survey in Khorog, the capital of the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (Gorno Badakhshan or GBAO), to determine a level of awareness among local population of activities of civil society’s organizations.  

Gavhar Davlatova, representative from the Khorog Civil Society Support Center Kalam, said the survey has been conducted in cooperation with the Democracy Development Center for the purpose of revealing obstacles on the way of better understanding of role and objectives of the civil society sector.    .

According to her, representatives of local authorities and media discussed issues of raising awareness among the population of activities of NGOs in the region, partnership among the government, business structures and civil society, as well as role of public associations in development of society.
