DUSHANBE, November 17, Asia-Plus  — Public Ecology Association “Environmental Protection Squad”/UNEP National Committee jointly with Tajik Journalists’ Union and under financial support of the Democracy Development Commission at the US Embassy in Dushanbe and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation have organized a roundtable meeting on eco-journalism.

The meeting entitled “Role of Youth Eco-Journalism in Tackling Problems of Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development” was held at Tajik Journalists’ Union in Dushanbe on November 16. 

The meeting participants included representatives from Tajik media as well as lecturers and students at Tajik National University and Russian-Tajik Slavonic University.  

The main objective of the roundtable meeting was to establish cooperation among students, lecturers, journalists, as well as government bodies and international organizations in promoting development and active involvement of mass media and young journalists in covering problems of environmental protection and sustainable development in the country.   

The roundtable meeting was part of a three-day master-class for young journalists on covering the mentioned problems.  The master-class was conducted on November 15-17.
