 DUSHANBE, November 7, Asia-Plus  — Celebrations to mark a Theatre Day and the 70th anniversary of the establishment of Tajikistan’s Russian Dramatic Theatre named after Vladimir Mayakovsky  are being held in Dushanbe today, Asia-Plus has learned from Gulmurod Valiyev, an official with the Minister of Culture (MoC).   

According to him, a ceremonial meeting will be held at the Mayakovsky Theatre today evening to celebrate high achievers and veterans of the country’s theatres.  Deputy Prime Minister Khairinisso Yusufi (formerly Mavlonova) and Culture Minister Mirzoshorukh Asrori are expected to attend the meeting. 

After the meeting a performance will be shown and various skits will be performed, the MoC official said.   

Besides, a book about history of the Mayakovsky Theatre authored by known Tajik writer Abdughaffor Abdujabborov will have been brought out by the theatre’s jubilee, Valiyev said.  

Guests from the Russian Federation as well as representatives from International Confederation of Theatres’ Unions have also been invited to attend celebrations dedicated to theatre’s jubilee.

Tajikistan marks a Theatre Day on November 7 because 78 years ago on November 7, the Tajik Academic Theatre named after Abulqosim Lohouti opened it first theatrical season.
