The Government of Tajikistan plans to receive 45 million U.S. dollars this year for supporting its national budget. According to the Ministry of Finance (MoF), negotiations with international financial institutions on this subject are under way.
“The negotiations began in 2017. This year, we have held meetings with senior representatives of international financial institutions active in the country,” an official source at a MoF told Asia-Plus in an interview.
According to him, they hope to reach positive results in the first half of this year.
“On this issue, we are collaborating with all international financial institutions, which are our partners for development,” the source added.
Tajikistan has regularly needed support of external donor for its budget in recent year.
In 2016-2017, the Government of Tajikistan received such a support from the Asian Development Bank (110 million USD) and the European Union (6 million USD).

These conditions, in particular, concern investment climate reforms program, institutional improvement of the process of supporting initiatives in the fields of investment, entrepreneurship, simplification of banking procedures, access to finances and so forth.
