Deflation was reported in Tajikistan’s consumer sector in February as prices and rates for services rendered to the population and food products last year fell 0.1 and 0.2 percent respectively, according to the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT).
Meanwhile, non-foods last month rose in cost by 0.1 percent, an official source at Tajik Central Bank told Asia-Plus Thursday afternoon.
According to him, inflation over the twelve-month period, from February 2017 to February 2018, stood at 5.2 percent
In January this year, Tajikistan’s inflation rate stood at 0.4 percent. Consequently, prices and rates in consumer market have risen 0.3 percent over the first two months of this year.
Recall, Tajikistan’s year-end inflation for 2017 has been estimated at 6.7 percent.
Tajik central bank had previously forecast that the year-end inflation for last year would to stand at 7.0 percent.
