Tashkent-Dushanbe flight is expected to be operated with a stopover in the Uzbek city of Samarqand in the near future, an official source in the Tajik government told Asia-Plus in an interview.

According to him, the stopover will be made in Samarqand because of low passenger traffic.

“Current passenger load factor on the Tashkent-Dushanbe air route is only 33 percent,” the source added.

Recall, Uzbekistan Airways has operated the regular flights from Tashkent to Dushanbe since April last year.

The first flight was operated on April 11, 2017.  It was the first regular flight between Tashkent and Dushanbe since 1992.  With the exception of a test flight on February 10, there had been no direct civilian flights between the two capitals since 1992.

Uzbekistan’s national air carrier now operates once-weekly service from Tashkent to Dushanbe on Tuesdays.
