Farrukh Karimov, the chief of the military registration and enlistment office in Qubodiyon district of Khatlon province, has been detained on suspicion of bribery, according to the press center of the Agency for State Financial Control and Combating Corruption.

Karimov demanded bribe from local resident Maqsad Sharipov for military identity card, though he knew that Sharipov has health problems and is unfit for military service, anticorruption agency press center said.

The military registration and enlistment office chief was reportedly detained red-handed while taking 3,000 somoni from Sharipov.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Farrukh Karimov under the provisions of Article 319 of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – bribery; an investigation is under way.
