CIS economic council endorses package of documents tabled to the Dushanbe summit

DUSHANBE, September 17, Asia-Plus – The 35th session of the CIS economic council that was held in Moscow on September 14 considered 22 questions concerning different aspects of economic cooperation in the framework of CIS. In particular, documents which regulate the cooperation of CIS countries in the sphere of peace usage of atomic energy, bank service, transport policy, migration will be examined.

The financial issues discussed at the session included, in particular, question on single budget of CIS organs, financed at the expense of budget means of the State participants of CIS

The session considered and endorsed a package of documents that will be tabled to a summit meeting that will be held in the Tajik capital in October.  

Russian media said that the endorsed documents, in particular, included a draft convention on legal status of labor migrants and their families, an agreement on cooperation in forming and exchanging information resources as well as creating and developing information systems in the field of peaceful use of nuclear power, and a draft concept on raising  functional reliability of bridges on the CIS highways for 2007-2015 .

Meanwhile, the CIS economic council did not endorse a draft agreement on legal regime of mutual access of resident banks of the CIS states to their national currency markets.  Such a decision was made because Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan are completing a process of joining the World Trade Organization (WTO), and after admission to this organization the regime of mutual access will be corrected in accordance with norms of the WTO.    

We will recall the next CIS summit that will be held in Dushanbe ion October 5 is expected to consider 22 issues, including a concept of development of the CIS and plan of main actions on implementation of the concept.
