DUSHANBE, September 13, Asia-Plus – Trend – Border services of six member nations of the CIS are jointly conducted a special operation to prevent trans-border crime in the Central Asian region, General Aleksey Manilov, the chief of the coordination service a the council of the CIS border commanders, remarked at the 58th session of the council of the CIS border commanders in Astana, Kazakhstan, yesterday.
Border services of Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan are participating in this operation, according to him.
“The main objective of this operation is to prevent illegal activities of smugglers, drug trafficking, illegal migration, a well as reveal persons involved in the trans-border crime,” Russian general said.
Various trans-border-crime-preventive events are being held simultaneously on borders of these six states, the general said.
According to Manilov, the council of the CIS border commanders will sign cooperation agreements with the European Union and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) before the end of this year.
