DUSHANBE, September 13, Asia-Plus — The head of the Council of Clerics (Shuroi Ulamo), who is Tajikistan’s grand mufti, Amonullo Nematzoda, has appealed to Dushanbe Mayor Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev asking for permission for making prayer Tarobeh in so-called public places (places for holding private ceremonies in microryons and mahalla), Asia-plus has learned at the Council of Clerics.
Muslims make prayer Tarobeh during the holy month of Ramadan after the evening meal.
At present there are some 400 such places in Dushanbe and many of them have been used as mosques for making prayer, while the number of officially registered mosques in the Tajik capital is not more than 57.
