DUSHANBE, September 7, Asia-Plus — Celebrations to mark the 16th anniversary of Tajikistan’s Independence will be held in Dushanbe on September 9, presidential press service said.

The main celebrations to mark the country’s Independence Day will be organized at the Dushanbe hippodrome, where horse-race will be held, and the Central Republican Stadium, where the gushtingiri (Tajik national wrestling) will be held, and on the Dousti Square, where a gala concert with participation of known Tajik singers will be held.

Relevant bodies have been charged to take adequate measure to maintain order in public places during the holiday.

As it was reported yesterday, Tajikistan’s law enforcement and power-wielding structures have tightened security control measures to ensure security and public order during the celebrations.  All facilities of statewide importance and public places have been taken under strict control of police.

The tightened security control measures have been effective since yesterday and lasting through September 10.

The border service said that they have also tightened control of border and border crossing points.

Staff members of the News Agency Asia-Plus congratulate all Tajik nationals on this holiday.  We wish you peace, well and prosperity!
