DUSHANBE, September 6, Asia-Plus — President Emomali Rahmon today morning left for Kulob to attend inauguration of a number of facilities, built there by the 16th anniversary of Tajikistan’s Independence. 

According to press service of the Kulob Mayor’s office, President Rahmon’s visit to Kulob will start with inaugurating the Museum at “The 2700th Anniversary of Kulob” Memorial Complex.  6.14 million somonis have been spent for construction this facility.  

After that, the president will inaugurate a new five-story Khatlon Hotel in the city.  

The third facility that will be officially opened today is the Kulob regional hospital provided with state-of-the-art equipment.    

The head of state will also participate in an official opening of the renovated building of the Kulob Theatre named after Saidali Valizoda.  3.985 somonis have been spent to renovate the theatre’s building.  After repairs, the theatre has the capacity of 300 seats.   

Suhrobsho Farrukhsho, a spokesman for the Kulob mayor, told Asia-Plus that during his stay in Kulob, President Rahmon is also expected to familiarize himself with a progress of the construction of a 220-voltage power grid Lolazor-Khatlon being built by China’s Tebian Electric Apparatus Stock Co., Ltd. (TBEA).   

We will recall that Barqi Tojik (Tajik electric systems) power holding and China’s TBEA signed a contract on the construction of high-voltage electricity transmission line Lolazor-Khatlon in Dushanbe on April 19, 2006.  The sides agreed to build a 220-kilovolt 93-kilometer line “Lolazor-Khatlon in the Khatlon province.  The Lolazor-Khatlon project costs $59 million.  

Substation Lolazor, being constructed in the Danghara district, is expected to be finished in December this year.  Geological survey of the site for construction of the substation has been completed and some 80 percent of all necessary equipment has been delivered to the site.  The transformer is expected to be delivered from China in September.
