Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) deputes today unanimously voted for endorsement of amendments offered to the country’s law on local governments.

Under these amendments, administrations of all districts, cities and provinces of the country should have their own websites.  

Besides, the amendments stipulate that local governments will not have the right to transfer management of public utilities to private ownership.  

Making these amendments to the law on local government has been initiated by a group of members of the Majlisi Milli (Tajikistan’s upper chamber of parliament) and deputies of the Majlisi Namoyandagon.  

Today, administrations many of many cities ad districts of Tajikistan as well as the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO) do not have their own websites.
