Dhaka Tribune reports President M Abdul Hamid will leave Dhaka for Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, on a seven-day official visit, Thursday afternoon.

Citing President Press Secretary Joynal Abedin, Dhaka Tribune says, “During his seven-day visit to the Central Asian nations, the president will attend the fifth summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) in Tajikistan's capital, Dushanbe.  He will begin his visit to Uzbekistan on June 16.”

Members of President Abdul Hamid’s entourage reportedly include his spouse Rashida Khanam and officials concerned of the Foreign Ministry and Bangabhaban (the official residence and principal workplace of the President of Bangladesh).

The Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) is a multi-national forum for enhancing cooperation towards promoting peace, security and stability in Asia.  A number of bilateral meetings are expected to take place on the sidelines of the CICA summit.
