Iran ready to develop its relations with Tajikistan in all fields of mutual interest, says Iranian president

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani yesterday held separate meetings with new ambassadors of Tajikistan, China, France and Poland.   

The Tajik MFA information department says Tajikistan’s new Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran Nizomiddin Zohidi and Iranian President Hassan Rouhani held talks after the credentials presenting ceremony.

They reportedly discussed state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Iran as well as a number of other issues being of mutual interest.

Referring to his latest meeting with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon that took place in Dushanbe on June 15, President Rouhani said that Iran is ready to develop its relations with Tajikistan in all fields, including economy, culture as well as interaction within the frameworks of regional and international organizations, the Tajik MFA information department said.       

Meanwhile, citing the official website of Iranian Presidency, Iranian media reports say President Rouhani underscored the common historical, linguistic, cultural and religious roots of the Iranian and Tajik nations, stressing, “relations between the two countries are rooted in the culture and literature of the two nations.” official website of Iranian Presidency reported.

“Tehran is ready to develop its relations with Dushanbe in all fields of mutual interest”, Rouhani told the Tajik diplomat.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran welcomes the promotion of cooperation with the government of Tajikistan in all economic, cultural and international fields, considering these ties beneficial for both nations and the region,” said Rouhani, according to Mehr News Agency (MNA).

He also went on to refer to the importance of Chabahar Port for the development of the region, adding that with the development of corridors, especially those related to rail transport, economic relations will also develop.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran welcomes the promotion of cooperation with Tajikistan in agriculture, energy, arts, culture, academia, and technology,” he said.

Iranian president reportedly also appreciated Tajikistan’s hosting of the fifth summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA).

For his part, Nizomiddin Zohidi said that the development of relations between Iran and Tajikistan is very important, also describing Rouhani’s visit to Tajikistan as a new chapter in relations between the two countries.
