DUSHANBE, August 22, Asia-Plus – Itar Tass — Russian Interior Minister Rashid Nurgaliyev said on Tuesday constant exchange of information and regular working meetings of Russian and Tajik police units helped find out groups of drug mules and seize large batches of drugs.
Last year Russia’s transport police seized 864 kilograms of narcotic substances. Tajikistan’s transport police seized 182.5 kilograms of drugs in January-June of 2007, he told a meeting of the Joint Board of the two countries’ interior ministries.
At present, police units ensure joint control of trains running from Tajikistan to Russia.
