Rahmon calls on Trade Unions to create decent living conditions for every employee

President Emomali Rahmon yesterday met with senior representatives and activists of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Tajikistan.  The meeting was held at the Kokhi Borbad State Complex in Dushanbe. 

In a statement delivered at the meeting, Tajik leader noted that Trade Unions as a mass organization must promote to protection of achievements of the country’s independence, stability and unity as well as interests of its members, according to the Tajik president’s official website.

Trade Unions must take measures to create decent living and labor conditions for every employee, Rahmon said.  

Tajik leader noted that the main objective of the meeting was in discussing current activities of the Federation and ways of expanding cooperation between the Government and Trade Unions.

Emomali Rahmon noted that issues related to social protection of population were a constant focus of the Government.

Tajikistan joined the International Labor Organization (ILO) on September 9, 1993. The country has ratified 51 ILO Conventions, including eight fundamental Conventions.  The ILO Decent Work Technical Support and Country Office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia coordinates the ILO activities in Tajikistan.
