Tajik leader, Swiss national bank head discuss Tajik-Swiss financial cooperation

On Wednesday November 6, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon met in Bern with Mr. Thomas Jordan, the Chairman of the Governing Board of the Swiss National Bank.

The Tajik president’s official website says they discussed issues related to cooperation between Tajikistan and Switzerland in banking and financial spheres.  

Emomali Rahmon, in particular, noted that Switzerland is one of significant and reliable partners of Tajikistan in international arena and expressed satisfaction with the level of cooperation in the banking and financial spheres. 

Rahmon and Jordan reportedly discussed state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral financial cooperation between Tajikistan and Switzerland and ways to improve of banking system in Tajikistan.  

The Swiss National Bank (SNB) is the central bank of Switzerland, and is therefore responsible for the nation's monetary policy. It is also the sole issuer of Swiss franc banknotes.  The SNB has two head offices: one is in Bern and the other one in Zurich.

Meanwhile, a reliable source within the Tajik government says that President Emomali Rahmon will not interrupt his working trip to Europe in connection with the yesterday’s attack on the frontier post in the Roudaki district.
