DUSHANBE, July 19, Asia-Plus July 19 — Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi told journalists in Dushanbe on July 18 that Tajikistan and India have not been negotiating over opening of Indian military base in Tajikistan.

Commenting on the report in The Times of India on this subject, the minister called it “invention of the author.”

“Indeed, India has helped us rehabilitate the Ayni airfield, but this does not provide for opening of the military base here,” Zarifi said, reiterating that Tajikistan has not negotiated with India on that issue.
