DUSHANBE, April 9, 2009, Asia-Plus — The Dushanbe Russian Drama Theatre named after Vladimir Mayakovsky that represented Tajikistan at the 11th International Festival of Russian Theatres from the CIS States, Meetings in Russia, in St. Petersburg has won the Kirill Lavrov Award.
As it had been reported earlier, the festival kicked off on April 1 and ran through April 8. The Mayakovsky Theatre showed the play “Confession,” written by known Tajik stage director and playwright Barzou Abdurazzoqov.
The ceremony of presentation of the Kirill Lavrov Awards 2008 was held at the Baltiysky Dom Theatre on April 8. The Mayakovsky Theatre won the award in the “Small Stage” nomination.
During the eight-day festival, its participants also discussed the problems of Russian theatres and joint theatrical projects and the third conference formally titled “Russian Theatre Abroad as Institution of Russian Culture” was held on sidelines of the festival yesterday.
