DUSHANBE, June 31, Asia-Plus – 1,000 vulnerable families in Tajikistan will receive blank birth certificates free of charge, Asia-Plus has learned from a source at the committee for family and women’s affairs under the Tajik government.

The source said that the action is timed to coincide with International Child Protection Day, which is marked in Tajikistan on June 1.

The blank birth certificate costs 3.44 somonis and the committee will pay expenses on issuing those 1,000 birth certificates, the source said.

In the meantime, various festivities dedicated to International Child Protection Day will be held in Dushanbe tomorrow.

Shahlo Mousoyeva, chairperson of the culture directorate of the Dushanbe mayor’s office, said that concerts, drawing contests and quizzes will be organized in the children’s park of Dushanbe.  “Tomorrow, all children’s merry-go-rounds and playgrounds in the Dushanbe Central Park will function free of charge,” she said.
