UN predicts 18% of Afghan heroin to travel through northern route, says Russian drug control service spokesman

DUSHANBE, May 24, Asia-Plus – UN predicts 18 percent of Afghan heroin may travel through the northern route Afghanistan-Tajikistan-Kyrgyzstan-Russia, the news agency Kabar cited Aleksandr Mikhailov, the head of the department for inter-agency information activity of Russia’s Federal Drug Control Service as saying on May 23.  

“This subject is special for us because Russia is the last cordon through which narcotics travel,” the Russian drug control service spokesman said.
