DUSHANBE, March 9, Asia-Plus – Survey conducted by the Khorog Civic Society Support Center Kalam in the Roshtqala and Ishkashim districts of Gorno Badakhshan has shown that a level of cooperation of the GBAO authorities with public and international organizations active in the region has improved lately.
The Kalam director Bouribek Bouribekov said that the survey had targeted 68 state-run and public associations in the districts. “Before 2000, there was a certain distrust in relations between these organizations while at present the situation has changed for better,” said Bouribekov, “They now try to coordinate their activity to jointly resolve problems facing local communities; village organizations and local non-government organizations always work jointly.” Coalitions for resolving socio-economic problems have been set up practically in all village communities, according to him.
Bouribekov added that 40 stories of success had been collected in Roshtqala and Ishkashim during the survey. “They will be published in a brochure that will be distributed to the districts in Gorno Badakhshan,” the Kalam head said, adding that the survey had been conducted at the request of the Mountain Societies Development Support Program (MSDSP) of the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF).
