DUSHANBE, March 9, Asia-Plus – The construction of six nine-story residential blocs in the Saadi Sherozi Street in Dushanbe is scheduled to officially begin on March 20, according to the Dushanbe mayor’s office.

A source at the Dushanbe mayor’s office said that the mayor’s office had already provided 60 million somonis to fund this project.

“Twelve Tajik construction companies, including Poytakht, Stroitel-K and Stroyservice, will construct these residential blocs, which are part of the accessible housing project to be launched in the country,” the source said, adding that by mayor’s resolution the price of one square meter in the accessible housing will not exceed $350.

The source added that a mortgage crediting law, which is supposed to be adopted in the near future, will provide the primary mechanism to finance private ownership of residential property and will given people an opportunity to acquire apartments in those buildings though taking long-term loans.
