On Wednesday April 7, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin received the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Péter Szijjártó, according to the Tajik MFA information department. 

During the meeting, the two discussed prospects of further expansion of the bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Hungary.  They also exchanged views on a number of regional issues being of mutual interest.

The meeting was followed by political consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries.

The two sides reportedly expressed mutual interest in expansion of the content of multifaceted relations between the delegations of Tajikistan and Hungary in the political, economic, environmental, tourism, scientific, cultural, medical and sports spheres and expressed their intention to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2022 and to hold scientific and cultural events on this occasion.

At the end of the consultations, the ministers signed the Program of Cooperation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan and Hungary for 2022-2024.

In a press statement delivered after the consultations, Tajik foreign minister, in particular, noted that they  exchanged views on the current situation related to Covid-19 pandemic and the joint fight against it, and also discussed aspects of cooperation between the two countries in the political, economic, environmental, tourism, scientific, cultural, medical and sports spheres.  Mutual interest was expressed in improving the legal framework in order to expand the content of multifaceted relations between Tajikistan and Hungary.

“It is also worth noting that a business forum was held this morning with the participation of Tajik and Hungarian entrepreneurs,” Muhriddin said.
