DUSHANBE, February 23, Asia-Plus – A new manual for journalists on legal foundation of journalism has been brought out in Dushanbe. 

A manual entitled “Legal Foundation of Journalism” compiled by the Tajik MFA Information Department under support of Fredrick Ebert Foundation’s representative office in Tajikistan was presented at the Foundation’s office in Dushanbe on February 22.  

The manual contains legal documents regulating status and various aspects of media activity in Tajikistan.  

The MFA Information Department head Igor Sattorov presenting the manual noted that it consists of several parts.  “The first part includes articles from laws of Tajikistan regulating activity of journalists,” said the MFA spokesman, “the manual also contains extracts from international documents.”  The second part of the manual includes useful information for foreign journalists.  

The manual also makes available detailed information about media operating in Tajikistan. 

The manual has a circulation of a 500 copies and it will be distributed to journalists free of charge.  A part of copies will be distributed to libraries.
