Date:

Majlisi Milli (Tajikistan’s upper chamber of parliament) Speaker Rustam Emomali, who is also Mayor of Dushanbe, has taken the sensational “case of Madina” under his personal control, Navrouz Qurbonzoda, a spokesman for the Majlisi Milli, told Asia-Plus in an interview.

According to him, Rustam Emomali has studied appeals of residents of Dushanbe and the appeal of Madina’s mother, Z. Alimova, to him and the Prosecutor’s General Office about inflicting severe bodily harms on her daughter by torture by Aziza D. and taking Madina M. to the Shifobakhsh Medical Center in a coma.

“The Dushanbe law enforcement authorities have launched an investigation in to the case, but in accordance with the country’s law on amnesty of September 7 2021, criminal proceedings have been refused.  By Majlisi Milli speaker’s order investigation into case has been resumed,” Qurbonzoda said.

He emphasized that «the comprehensiveness and objectivity of the investigation are under direct control of Rustam Emomali.”

Recall, Madina M. was reported missing on August 25 and 14 hours later, she was taken to hospital with serious injuries in a coma.

Aziza D., the wife of the man Madina was reportedly dating, is under criminal prosecution as a suspect.
