DUSHANBE, January 4, Asia-Plus – Administration of TajikAzot, a plant on production of mineral fertilizers in the city of Sarband in Khatlon, proposes to launch a venture on producing packing at the plant.

The plant director general Tohirkhon Ghoziyev said that the investment project had been drawn up for the purpose of fully using the enterprise’s potentials.  “The project envisages production of packaging,” said Ghoziyev, “This product will be in demand because TajikAzot currently purchases packaging for its output from other countries.”

According to him, the estimated budget for the construction of the packaging-producing plant is some $1.5 million.

The closed joint-stock company TajikAzot is the joint venture launched in cooperation with Cypriot company Highrock Holding Limited in March 2002.  The JV was established on the basis of the plant for producing mineral fertilizers that was constructed in Sarband in 1964.

Tajikistan owns 20 percent of the shares and the Cypriot company assumes the 80 percent ownership interest in TajikAzot.
