DUSHANBE, November 28, Asia-Plus — On Monday November 27, Tajikistan’s largest Norak hydroelectric power station (HPS) generated 25 million-26 million KWh of electricity, Mahmadullo Qurbonov, director of the Norak HPS, told Asia-Plus by telephone.

According to him, at present, only three of the plant’s nine generators are operational.  He links decrease in the electricity generation to the work on damming the Vakhsh River on the site for Sangtuda-1 hydropower plant.

Qurbonov confirmed that the planned damming of the river was adjourned until December 10.  The river will be dammed after completion of concrete works on the final section of the water-takeout tunnels of Sangtuda-1 plant, according to him.
