Afghan media reports says a three-day gathering of Islamic clerics that was held in Kabul from Thursday to Saturday, concluded with a resolution of 11 principles.

More than 4500 religious scholars and tribal elders reportedly attended the gathering that began on Thursday, June 30 and ended at 5 pm Saturday, July 2 by issuing an 11-artice resolution.

In their statement, the participants called on the international community especially Islamic countries to recognize the Taliban government and unfreeze the central bank funds.

They called on the Taliban government to pay special attention to the rights of minorities, children, women and the entire nation.

The gathering reportedly ended with voicing support for the caretaker government.  The participants renewed their allegiance to the Leader of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Mullah Haibatullah Akhundzada, according to Pajhwok Afghan News.

The participants said they strongly supported the decree issued by the Islamic Emirate against the cultivation, production, trafficking and use of narcotics.

Meanwhile, some Afghan citizens said that the essential problems faced by the people of Afghanistan were not addressed in the resolutions, according to TOLOnews.

Residents reportedly claimed that the gathering mostly benefited the Islamic Emirate.

“We thought the gathering would discuss women’s rights, the economy and joblessness but it didn’t happen,” said Mujda, a resident of Kabul, according to TOLOnews.

Pajhwok Afghan News says some analysts and political figures say the assembly should have made clear decisions on issues such as the opening of girls’ schools and the formation of a coalition government.
