DUSAHNBE, November 10, Asia-Plus – A natural-gas-and-oil filed in the Baljuvon district of Khatlon has resumed production of natural gas and increased production of oil, according to South Oil and Gas Enterprise.

The enterprise head Burikhon Ismatov said that increase in production of oil had become possible due to major repairs to one of three boreholes in the field.  “The enterprise has spent more than 500,000 somonis (nearly US$147,500) on the major repairs to this borehole,” Ismatov said.

He noted that the Baljuvon natural gas is supplied to the city of Kulob.  “If residents of Kulob pay for gas opportunely they will receive natural gas from this filed at the rate of up to 2 million cubic meters per year (the daily rate is 5,000 cubic meters),” the South Oil and gas Enterprise head said, adding that in the Soviet time the Beshtinchak filed had produced natural gas at the rate of 50,000 cubic meters per day.

According to him, the filed has increased production of oil from 3,000-4,000 tons to 5,000-10,000 tons per day.  “We may increase the fuel production even more if another ten boreholes are repaired,” said Ismatov, “More than 1.5 million somonis are needed for this.”

He added that rehabilitation works on the Qizil-Tumshuq field had allowed increasing production of natural gas from 40,000 cubic meters to nearly 60,000 cubic meters per day.  The enterprise has spent 60,000 somonis on repairs to this field, according to him.  “the Qizil-Tumshuq field supplies natural gas to Qurghon Teppa, Kolkhozobod and Sarband,” Ismatov said.
