DUSHANBE, November 10, Asia-Plus – World’s leading supplier of equipment for mobile and fixed voice communication networks, Alcatel, is opening its representative office in Tajikistan.

Alina Bulnatayeva, Public Relations Manager of Alcatel in Astana (Kazakhstan) for Central Asia, Mongolia and Azerbaijan, told Asia-Plus that an official opening of the Alcatel representative office will be held in Dushanbe on November 14.   According to her, the representative office will facilitate sale of  equipment for mobile and fixed voice communication networks, data networks and television and video delivery in Tajikistan.  Besides,  the company will establish and expand cooperation with Tajikistan’s of cellular and fixed-line operators, public telecommunications associations, educational institutions as well as state communications regulatory  agencies.

In 2001, China”s Ministry of Information Industry and Alcatel signed an agreement to create a company limited by shares, Alcatel Shanghai Bell (ASB), integrating Alcatel”s key operations in China with Shanghai Bell, the first Sino-foreign joint venture in the country”s telecom industry.  Alcatel Shanghai Bell was officially launched in May 2002 and is straightaway a leading telecom technology powerhouse in China.
