DUSHANBE, November 10, Asia-Plus – Duties of incumbent President Emomali Rahmonov will pass until November 18.  On this day, Rahmonov will take up office swear and oath as a newly elected President.  

Shavkat Saidov, an Aide to the Majlisi Milli (Tajikistan’s upper chamber of parliament) Speaker for the Public Relations, said that under Article 67 of Tajikistan’s Constitution a newly elected President takes up office swear and oath at a joint session of the two chambers of Tajikistan’s parliament – the Majlisi Milli and the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament). 

The fourth joint session of the two chambers of Tajikistan’s parliament will be held in Dushanbe on November 18.  Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev, chairman of the Majlisi Milli, signed a resolution so directing on November 3.   

Rahmonov has won a landslide victory in the country’s presidential poll.  The initial results of the polls give Rahmonov 79.3 of the vote.  The closest of his four opponents, Olimjon Boboyev of the Party of Economic Reforms, got 6.2 percent.
