DUSHANBE, March 26, 2009, Asia-Plus — Tajik Drug Control Agency (DCA) director, Lieutenant-General Rustam Nazarov, considers that a series of reports released by some Russian media lately cover the drug situation in Tajikistan tendentiously and do not correspondent to the facts.

Nazarov remarked that on March 24, while speaking at the extraordinary session of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) coordinating council of heads of services for combating drug trafficking in Moscow, according to the DCA press service.

Speaking at the meeting, Tajik drug control chief also underlined the necessity of closer cooperation in investigating organized criminal groups.

The meeting participants also reviewed the outcomes of the anti-drug operation, dubbed Channel 2008, and considered issues related to strengthening measures against drug trafficking from Afghanistan, the DCA press service said.

The session resulted in signing of a number of documents, including the regulations on the regional anti-drug operation, Channel, and the regulations on the CSTO interstate anti-drug staff.
