DUSHANBE, September 22, Asia-Plus – Mirhusein Narziyev-run wing of the Socialist Party of Tajikistan (SPT) does not have the right to field its candidate in the presidential election.

Mirzoali Boltuyev, the chairman of Tajikistan’s Central Commission for Elections and Referenda (CCER), remarked this at the seminar “Media and Right of Citizens to Participate in Political Life and Management of State” in Dushanbe on September 22.

Commenting on the congress held by Narziyev-run wing on Sunday and nomination of candidate for the president, Boltuyev reminded that all political parties functioning in the country are registered with the justice ministry.  “According to the Ministry of Justice, the following parties have to date been registered with it: Agrarian Party (Amirali Qaraqulov); Communist Party (Shodi Shabdolov); Democratic Party (Mahmadruzi Iskandarov); Islamic Revival Party (Muhiddin Kabiri); Party of Economic Reforms (Olimjon Boboyev); People’s Democratic Party (Emomali Rahmonov); Social-Democratic Party (Rahmatillo Zoirov) and Socialist Party (Abduhalim Ghafforov),” the CCER head said.

According to him, if they receive data from the justice ministry about other registered political parties before the date of the completion of registration candidates (October 7) the documents of those parties will also be accepted for registration.

“Therefore we still have no right to accept registration documents from the so-called Narziyev-run wing of the SPT,” Boltuyev said
