DUSHANBE, August 23, Asia-Plus — A group of members of Tajikistan’s Democratic Party (DPT) intending to form a “Vatan” (Homeland) within the party has broken up itself and organized a new group for convocation of an extraordinary congress of the party.

The DPT deputy head Rahmatullo Valiyev remarked this in his interview with Asia-plus today.  According to him, members of this group have collected 340 signatures of members of the DPT, but a commission set up by the party’s administration for checking submitted documents has established that the majority of signatures are forged.

The further details of this will be announced at a news conference that will be held at the DPT headquarters in Dushanbe today afternoon.
