QURGHON TEPPA, July 27, Asia-Plus –
Tajikistan
intends to launch a new air route to
Moscow
next month.
Deputy chief of the Qurghon Teppa airport, Aleksandr Leonov, has told Asia-Plus that they plan to launch a flight Qurghon Teppa –
Moscow
in August. According to him, at present planes are flying from Qurghon Teppa to Khujand, the capital of the Tajik
northern province
of Sughd, the Kazakh city of
Almaty
.
“We hope that within the next few days, the Qurghon Teppa airport will get an international status, and we will be able conduct flights to
Moscow
,” Mr. Leonov said. However, he refrained from giving further details of this possible flight.
Leonov also noted that planes servicing the Qurghon Teppa airport have shipped 12 tons of cargoes and conveyed 4,210 passengers since the beginning of the year, “which is much fewer compared to the same period of the last year.”
Mr. Leonov also noted that a new rail route from Qurghon Teppa to the Russian city of
Novosibirsk
was expected to be launched in near future.
