, July 21, Asia-Plus – Waters of the Kofarnihon and Varzob rivers meet requirements and in terms of cleanness and quality of water they leave behind many rivers of the world, Boshid Suriyev, the head of the analytical control department of the Committee for Environmental Protection and Forestry, remarked at a meeting with journalists on July 21.  

According to him, the quality of water in the


Kofarnihon


River


was tested in June this year and at present they testing the quality of water in the


Varzob


River


, on the section from the settlement of Ziddi to


Dushanbe


.   “No serious deviations from norm have been reported,” said Mr. Suriyev, “Therefore if water supplied to residential buildings in


Dushanbe


has any shortcomings, it results from non-operation of stations for purification and supply of water.”

For his part, Mr. Bahrom Mahmadaliyev, the head of the environmental protection department of the


Dushanbe


mayor’s office, also noted that water in the


Varzob


River


meets standards.  At the same time, he added that the autumn precipitations would cause  a certain of water in the river.  “Various pathogenic organisms may appear in the river,” said Mr. Mahmadaliyev, “Therefore at present we jointly with investors from


Japan


and experts from the World bank are considering issues related to launching additional water-purifying stations.”
