DUSHANBE, July 20, Asia-Plus – Nine state farms have been reorganized and 221 dehqan farms have been created on basis of them over the past six months, Davlatsho Gulmahmadov, Chairman of the Committee Fore Land-tenure Regulations, remarked at a news conference in Dushanbe on July 20.  

According to him, a total number of shareholders in those 221 farming units has amounted to 13,038 people and 14,615 hectares of farmland, including 7,555 hectares of arable lands, have been assigned to them.  

At present there are 28,452 dehqan farms with a total area of more than 4.715 million hectares of farmland, including more than 496,000 hectares of arable lands, in

In the territorial cross section the proportions of farming units were: Khatlon province – 10,718 farming units; Sughd province – more than 7,000 farming units; districts subordinate to the center (RRP) – more than 9,000 farming units; and Gorno Badakhshan – 192 farming units.   

Mr. Gulmahmadov also noted that under support of the European Commission more than 38,000 certificates for use of additional personal plots (“presidential” lands) have been issued to farmers free of charge over the same six-month period.  “In the Sughd province, more than 18,000 such certificates have been issued to farmers, in Khatlon – more than 11,000 certificates, in Gorno Badakhshan – more than 1,500 certificates, and in districts subordinate to the center – some 7,000 certificates,” the head of the Committee Fore Land-tenure Regulations said. 

According to him, their committee maintains close cooperation with a number of international organizations.  More than 23 meetings of holders of farming units and heads of districts with representatives from international organizations on management of land resources, modern land-survey and land reforms have been held in the country over the first six months of this year, according to Gulmahmadov.
