90 enterprises with participation of Uzbek capital operating in Tajikistan have reportedly invested 74.1 million US dollars in the country’s economy over the past seventeen years.
On March 10, the head of Tajikistan’s State Committee on Investment and State-owned Property Management (GosKomInvest), Sulton Rahimzoda, met here with the Minister of pf Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan, Laziz Qudratov, the GosKomInvest press center reports.
In the course of the talks, the parties reportedly discussed state and prospects of further expansion of trade and economic cooperation between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, including attraction of direct investment, organization of Tajikistan-Uzbekistan investment forums and activities of the Tajik-Uzbek Investment Company.
It was noted during the meeting that 90 enterprises with participation of Uzbek capital have bene registered in Tajikistan as of January 1, 2024.
During the period of 2007-2023, these enterprises reportedly invested 74.1 million US dollars in Tajikistan’s economy.
The two also discussed issues related to implementation of priority projects through attraction of funds from the private sector and the Tajik-Uzbek Investment Company, increase in the volume of direct investment and organization of the investment forum in Tajikistan in the first half of this year in the framework of the state visit of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Tajikistan
The Tajik-Uzbek Investment Company with an authorized capital of US$12 million was established in September 2021 based on the relevant government-to-government agreement between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan signed in June the same year.
Uzbekistan’s Fund for Reconstruction and Development owns 75 percent of the shares in this Company and Tajinvest, a subdivision of Tajikistan’s GosKomInvest, assumes the 25% ownership in the Tajik-Uzbek Investment Company
