The author of this book is Viktor Kim, the chairman of the Soviet Koreans’ Association in

.  This book is the first of a series of works on ethnic minorities living in


Tajikistan


.  

The book consisting of several chapters, including “Nationality Policy in the

Soviet Union

” and “Main Factors Influencing State of Ethnic Minorities”, “International Experience”, contains analysis of processes and changes having taken place in


Tajikistan


’s policy on nationalities as well as short comparative analysis of a state of ethnic minorities materials in


Tajikistan


and the CIS as a whole.  This work also touches up problems of inter-ethnic relationships and nationality policy.  

In preface of his work, Mr. Kim notes that topicality of this subject has been caused by a number of objective reasons.  He stresses at present more than 120 ethnic minorities are living in


Tajikistan


, and they constitute some 20 percent of the country’s population.
