Tajikistan and Kazakhstan have become de jure allies

Following the results of the TajikKazakh highlevel talks in Dushanbe on August 22, 16 new documents on cooperation were signed.

The key one is the Treaty on Allied Relations between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan, signed by Presidents Emomali Rahmon and KassymJomart Tokayev.

Memoranda were also signed:

on mutual understanding between the Central Commission for Elections and Referendums of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

between the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan on cooperation in the field of industry;

on cooperation in the field of oil and gas between the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

on mutual understanding between the Ministries of Agriculture of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of innovative and digital development, training and retraining of agricultural personnel;

on cooperation between the Agency for Innovation and Digital Technologies under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

on cooperation between the Committee on Television and Radio under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

between the Committee on Architecture and Construction under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan on cooperation in the development of information and communication technologies in the construction sector;

between the Committee for Food Safety under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Committee for Veterinary Control and Supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan on cooperation in the field of veterinary medicine;

on cooperation between the Agency for Standardization, Metrology, Certification and Trade Inspection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of standardization, metrology and conformity assessment;

on cooperation between the State Unitary Enterprise Tajik Rare Metals and JSC NAC Kazatomprom;

on cooperation between the Youth Union of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Youth Assembly of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In addition, the State Committee for Youth and Sports of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan signed a program of cooperation in the field of physical culture and sports.

After that, KassymJomart Tokayev and Emomali Rahmon made a joint statement to the press. Both presidents recognized the historical significance of the signed Treaty on Allied Relations, which marks "the transition to a qualitatively new stage of bilateral cooperation."

The heads of Kazakhstan and Tajikistan noted that there are "no problematic issues" between the two countries, and agreed to increase bilateral trade by expanding the range of goods supplied, create joint ventures in the food industry, continue cooperation on the rational use of resources of transboundary rivers and other issues.

The state visit of the President of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Tajikistan will continue on August 23.
