DUSHANBE, May 23, Asia-Plus – A presentation of a textbook on conflict settlement subject as well manual for teaching this subject at higher educational institutions in Tajikistan will be held at the “Kayon” Hotel in Dushanbe on may 24.  

According to information from the Democratic Processes Support Public Committee, the textbook “Introduction to Conflict Settlement Studies” intended for students at higher educational institutions specializing in social disciplines has been published in Tajik and has circulation of a 5,000. 

The source says the textbook has been worked out under a joint program of Tajikistan’s Ministry of Education and the U.S. International Institute for Sustainable Dialogue under support of the Swiss Ministry of Foreign Affairs (PD-IV).    

“The main objective of the program is in introducing the conflict settlement subject in eight leading Tajik universities,” said the source, “24 representatives from the those universities have participated in a series of training seminars on modern theory and practice of settlement of conflicts conducted by skilled Western scientists and experts.  Tajik lecturers have studied modern methods of settlement of conflicts and peacekeeping theory as well international experience in this area.” 

The Asia-Plus interlocutor says methodical labs on teaching the conflict settlement subject and political science provided with necessary equipment, access to Internet and library on social sciences, will be established at five Tajik universities.  

The “Introduction to Conflict Settlement Studies” textbook is a result of creative cooperation of leading Tajik researchers and Western experts, according to the source.  “The textbook contains not only theoretical data but also not a few practical information about an experience of peace process in Tajikistan,” the source said.   

According to him, the textbook has also been translated into English that may promote further popularization of Tajik experience in peaceful settlement on international arena.  

“The textbook will be distributed free of charge both among students and teachers at Tajik universities and through a network of being established methodical labs,” the Asia-Plus interlocutor concluded.
