The area of irrigated land in Tajikistan has increased: according to the State Committee for Land Management and Geodesy of Tajikistan, as of early 2025, it reached 767,412 hectares, which is 1,109 hectares more than the previous year.
This update was announced during a board meeting of the Committee held on April 8, chaired by the head of the agency, Orif Khojazoda, and dedicated to reviewing results from the first quarter of 2025.
The meeting was held via videoconference and included participation from deputy chairpersons, heads of regional committees, directors of subordinate institutions, and branches of the State Enterprise Real Estate Registration.
Deputy Chairman Mirzovali Safarmakhmadzoda highlighted that the agency’s staff is actively implementing government directives, particularly in land management, cartography, monitoring, and real estate registration.
According to the government-approved annual report, in 2025, 1,492 hectares of land from other categories were converted into arable land, of which 1,420 hectares became irrigated. The area of perennial crops also increased by 179 hectares.
In the first quarter, the Real Estate Registration Agency issued 8,519 land rights certificates. Among them:
- 702 plots were allocated to dehkan farms;
- 16 plots were allocated to household farms;
- 6,984 plots were allocated for private household land;
- 135 plots were allocated to other forms of farming;
- 682 plots were allocated for other purposes.
All land users were issued official certificates of state registration.
During the meeting, reports from the Sughd and Khatlon regional land committees were also presented. Chairman Orif Khojazoda instructed the teams to address identified shortcomings and strengthen oversight of agricultural planting — especially for potatoes and cotton.
He also called for the rational use of seed-breeding and livestock farm lands, as well as pastures.
