As part of the celebrations for International Chinese Language Day in 2025, the Tajik-Chinese Mining Company organized a series of cultural and educational events under the slogan "Building dreams with the Chinese language, coloring the Silk Road with technology."

Truth is learned through practice

On April 7, the "Chinese Language Workshop" of the Tajik-Chinese Mining Company organized a visit to a metallurgical plant for all students of the "Chinese Language + Professional Skills" course at the Vocational Technical College of the city of Istiqlol.

Through direct observation of the process and professional explanations from the foundry workshop managers, the students learned about the lead smelting process, gained an understanding of lead production technologies, and increased their motivation for learning and confidence in their professional choices.

Cultural diversity in full bloom

On April 17, the "Chinese Language Workshop" at the company, in collaboration with the Vocational Technical College of Istiqlol, organized a themed event to jointly celebrate Chinese Language Day.

"Chinese, as one of the official languages of the UN, embodies five thousand years of Eastern wisdom. Its study is not just mastering a tool for communication, but also understanding the civilizational concept of 'Unity in Diversity,'" said Ms. Muqaddas Alaberdiyon, the First Deputy Mayor of Istiqlol City.

Xu Dongyun, Deputy Director-General of the Tajik-Chinese Mining Company, expressed gratitude to the teachers and enthusiasts of the Chinese language on behalf of the company.

"The Tajik-Chinese Mining Company consistently creates a platform for linguistic mutual understanding, cultural enrichment, and technological exchange between Tajikistan and China, promoting the closer ties of the two nations," he said.

It was also emphasized that language knowledge not only broadens one’s horizons and thinking but also offers an opportunity for personal growth.

"We will continue to follow the principles of preserving cultural heritage and spiritual communication by developing Chinese language programs and professional training," said Bie Wei, a teacher at the "Chinese Language Workshop."

The series of events dedicated to International Chinese Language Day became another strong brick in the foundation of cultural exchange and professional cooperation between Tajikistan and China.  In the future, the company, based on the platform of the "Chinese Language Workshop," will use the Chinese language as a link and professional skills as a driving force to continuously promote cultural exchange and mutual enrichment between the peoples of the two countries, opening a new chapter in mutual understanding and mutually beneficial cooperation.

The United Nations selected April 20 for Chinese Language Day as the date commemorates Guyu, one of the 24 solar terms of the Chinese culture.  During this period, rain brings the rapid growth of grain.

Chinese people celebrate Guyu in honor of Cangjie, because of a legend that when Cangjie invented Chinese characters, the deities and ghosts cried and it rained millet; the word "Guyu" literally means "rain of millet"

The Tajik-Chinese Mining Company is located in the settlement of Zarnisor, which is administratively subordinate to the city of Guliston (formerly Qairoqqum), Sughd province.  The enterprise was granted licenses for development of the lead and zinc deposits Altyn-Topkan and Pay-Buloq.
