Peruvian fighter seeks protection from Tajik fans ahead of ACA 187 fight in Moscow

Date:

Former UFC fighter Enrique Barzola, who is preparing for his debut in the ACA league, has found himself at the center of attention even before stepping into the octagon.

The Peruvian fighter made an emotional appeal to fans, asking for support and even protection ahead of ACA 187, scheduled for June 6 in Moscow. In this fight, he will face Tajik fighter Hafiz Sakibekov.

In a video posted on his social media, Barzola revealed that he had encountered negativity following comments he made about the behavior of certain fans. He explained, “I’ve just signed with ACA, and I’m already feeling pressure from fans in Tajikistan.  Yes, I talked about some things—the whistles from the stands, the litter in the arenas—but I didn’t personally insult anyone.  Yet, I received a lot of hate, even insults directed at my wife.  Is this normal?”

Barzola emphasized that his remarks were based on his previous experiences, but the online aggression he faced led him to reach out to Russian fans.  He added, “My guys from the gym in Russia told me about a section in the stands where local fans cheer for the home fighters.  I watched the videos, and now I want to see that energy and get support in Moscow.  If you're with me, this is your time.  Let’s go!”

The upcoming fight between Barzola and Sakibekov has drawn heightened attention, as Tajik fans are known for their passionate and emotional support of fighters in ACA arenas.

Sakibekov is considered one of the most promising fighters from Tajikistan in the bantamweight division, and a victory over a seasoned opponent like Barzola could mark a significant milestone in his career.

ACA management has yet to comment on Barzola’s appeal, but the organization has traditionally ensured the safety of its fighters at events.
