As part of its chairmanship in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Tajikistan is focused on implementing a strategic course set by the heads of state of the CIS for the development and strengthening of cooperation in the industrial sector.  This was stated by the Minister of Industry and New Technologies of Tajikistan, Sherali Kabir, yesterday at the meeting of the CIS Industrial Policy Council in Dushanbe.

According to Kabir, holding this meeting in Tajikistan provides a valuable opportunity to showcase the country's development and introduce the potential and prospects for further growth.

“The CIS is an important tool for Tajikistan in realizing multilateral cooperation and continues to be a relevant format for interaction among the member states,” the Tajik minister emphasized.

The meeting was attended by leaders of the industrial ministries of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.  Additionally, representatives from five leading higher education institutions—key organizations in the CIS countries dedicated to the training, retraining, and qualification enhancement of professionals in various industrial sectors—also participated in the meeting.

A key event during the meeting was the First Consultative Meeting of the Industry Ministers of Central Asian States, an initiative launched by Tajikistan's President Emomali Rahmon at the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of the Region in Astana in August 2024.

It is important to note that the heads of government plan to approve the Concept of Cooperation in the Light Industry Sector among CIS member states, the Concept for Harmonizing National Air Traffic Control Systems, and the Concept of Cooperation in Public Health Protection among the CIS countries.

Additionally, a treaty on the development of heavy machinery production is expected to be signed, and a draft document on the principles of forming the organizational and technical structure for the joint communication system of the armed forces of CIS member states will be discussed.

Tajikistan's commitment to strengthening industrial ties and advancing regional cooperation continues to be a central focus during its chairmanship of the CIS.
