The ceremony of commissioning the section of road from the fork on Obi Garm to the center of Rogun Photo: Press Service of the President of Tajikistan President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon opened a new highway Obi garm Nurabad (Nurobod) in Nurabad district. The route connects the capital with the administrative centers of Nurabad, Rasht, Sangvor, Tajikabad and Lakhsh districts, expanding connections in all directions and regional transit, the press service of the head of state reports.

The new road was built bypassing the reservoir of the Rogun hydroelectric power station. The old road in the direction of the Rasht Valley areas will remain under water as the Rogun reservoir fills.

The length of the road is 75 km, and its standard width is 12 meters. Three automobile tunnels have been built on the highway, which shorten the path by 24 km.:

the tunnel "35th anniversary of Independence" in Khakimi Jamoat with a length of 2,605 meters;

the 1700meter-long Vakhdat tunnel in Lugur Mahalla;

the Orieno tunnel in the Hawz Gorge is 1,600 meters long.

The tunnels are connected to communication lines, equipped with lighting and air purification equipment.

14 automobile bridges have been built in the mahallas of Kandak, Lugur, Sebnok, the villages of Hakimi and Mujikharf, Sebak, Tukhtor and other areas of Nurabad district.

The Head of State thanked the workers who built the road, noting that the facility plays an important role in the development of the region, domestic and foreign trade, and tourism. Emomali Rahmon also commissioned a repaired and renovated road from the fork on Obi Garm to the center of Rogun.

The 11 km long section was paved as part of the landscaping and development of the necessary infrastructure in the city of Rogun. The President noted the importance of this site for construction work at the Rogun HPP.

On the same day, Emomali Rahmon inspected the work at the construction site of the Rogun hydroelectric complex. The President was familiarized with the progress of work on the hydroelectric dam, in drainage and transport tunnels and on the protective dam.
